Cleaning
& Maintenance

Clean your Excell aluminum railing at least twice a year using a mild, non-abrasive soap and water with a soft sponge. Always rinse thoroughly with fresh water to remove any soap residue. The only regular maintenance required, aside from general cleaning, is the inspection of fasteners.

Inspect all fasteners once a year.

  • Over time, fasteners may loosen and require tightening. It is the owner’s responsibility to inspect these areas once per year.
  • We recommend applying a light coat of car or floor wax to exposed fasteners every 3–6 months to help reduce oxidation, or more frequently in high-UV or salt-spray environments.
  • Light surface rust may occur naturally and does not affect product performance or structural integrity.

Natural Aging of
Powder Coating

  • During the natural aging process of powder coating, you may notice a light white chalk-like residue or powder on the surface.
  • This is normal and can be removed with mild soap and water, then polished (using Soft Scrub, Vim, or a cut-polish) to restore the sheen.

Maintenance in High-Salt
or High-Pollution Areas

  • Railings in high-salt or high-pollution environments (such as beachfront or industrial areas) should be inspected monthly and cleaned more frequently.
  • Salt and moisture in the air can cause a build-up on railing components, requiring monthly inspections to detect and remove harmful residue.
  • If any build-up is found, monthly cleaning is necessary to restore the railing’s original appearance, quality, and sheen, and to maintain warranty eligibility.

Regular Care and

Cleaning of
Your Excell System

Before applying any cleaning product to your Excell Railing System, test it on a small, inconspicuous area first.

General Cleaning:

  • Use regular glass cleaner for glass infills
  • Remove sap, tree seeds, insects, and other debris promptly, as sun and heat can make them more difficult to remove
  • Remove paint or sealant residue using Methylated Spirits, Turpentine, White Spirits, Alcohol, or Isopropanol
  • Remove scuff marks or scratches using a mild, non-abrasive cleaner such as Soft Scrub or Vim

Avoid Using:

  • Dry or abrasive pads, steel wool
  • Strong solvents, acids, or industrial cleaners
  • Harsh or unknown chemicals not labeled safe for powder-coated surfaces
